United States Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that a Rosebud, South Dakota, man charged with Assault with a Dangerous Weapon was sentenced on September 4, 2012, by United States District Judge Roberto A. Lange.  Loren Dog Eyes, age 41, was sentenced to 21 months in custody, 1 year of supervised release, and a $100 special assessment to the Victim Assistance Fund.

Dog Eyes was indicted by a federal grand jury on April 10, 2012, and pled guilty to the charge on June 18, 2012.

The conviction stems from an incident that took place on March 2, 2012, when Dog Eyes assaulted the victim with a paring knife.

The investigation was conducted by Rosebud Sioux Tribe Law Enforcement Services.  The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Tim Maher.

Dog Eyes was remanded to the custody of the United States Marshal.
