U.S. Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that a Rosebud man has been indicted by a federal grand jury on three counts of Sexual Abuse of a Minor and one count of Tampering With a Witness.

Robert I. Pomani, age 21, was indicted by a federal grand jury on October 16, 2012. He appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge Mark A. Moreno on November 2, 2012, and pled not guilty to the indictment. The maximum penalty upon conviction of the sexual abuse charges is any term of years up to 15 years' imprisonment and a mandatory minimum period of supervised release of 5 years up to life. The maximum penalty upon conviction of the tampering with a witness charge is 20 years' custody and a period of supervised release of 3 years. The charges are merely accusations, and Pomani is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.

The investigation is being conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Assistant U.S. Attorney Troy Morley is prosecuting the case. Pomani was released on bond pending trial. A trial date has been set for December 18, 2012.
