Rapid City Woman Sentenced for Mail Theft

United States Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that a Rapid City woman charged with Obstruction of Mails was sentenced on June 29, 2012, by U.S. Magistrate Judge Veronica L. Duffy. Chelsea Uchytil, age 20, was sentenced to a $500 fine and ordered to pay $10 to the Victim Assistance Fund.

Between November 2011 and January 2012, Uchytil, along with two other women, took mail out of several mailboxes around Rapid City. She pleaded guilty on June 29, 2012.

This case was investigated by the U.S. Postal Inspection Service and the Pennington County Sheriff's Office. Assistant U.S. Attorney Eric Kelderman prosecuted the case.
