Missouri Man Sentenced for Failure to Pay Legal Child Support

US Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that a Richland Center, Missouri, man charged with Failure to Pay Legal Child Support was sentenced on September 17, 2012, by US District Judge Charles B. Kornmann. Todd J. Larson, age 50, was sentenced to a special assessment of $100 to the Victim Assistance Fund and child support restitution in the amount of $15,057.55.

Larson was indicted for failing to pay over $18,000 in past due child support by a federal grand jury on January 10, 2012. He was ordered by the Fifth Judicial Circuit Court, Brown County, South Dakota, to pay $250 per month for his minor children, commencing May 1, 1991. Said support was modified several times. At the time of indictment, Larson had not made a child support payment since May 2010, and the total arrearage amount was $18,187.50. He pled guilty to the charge on September 17, 2012.

This case was investigated the Department of Health and Human Services, Office of Inspector General. Assistant US Attorney Thomas J. Wright prosecuted the case.
