
California Man Indicted for Controlled Substance and Firearm Charges

United States Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that a Tracy, California man was indicted by a federal grand jury for selling marijuana in Rapid City and for possessing a .357 caliber Smith & Wesson revolver with the serial number etched off. Troy Leroy James, age 47, was indicted on January 23, 2013 for Possession With Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance and Possession of a Firearm with Obliterated Serial Number. He appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge Veronica L. Duffy on January 31, 2013 and pled not guilty to the indictment. The maximum penalty upon conviction is 10 years' imprisonment and/or a $250,000 fine. The charges are merely an accusation and James is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty. |
