[Knoxville, TN] - Kenneth R. Bowman, 42, of Knoxville, Tennessee, was sentenced today by United States Magistrate Judge C. Clifford Shirley to a three-year term of probation and a $5,000 fine. Judge Shirley also ordered Bowman to perform 150 hours of community service.
Bowman pled guilty on August 27, 2008, to one count of submitting false Offers in Compromise to the Internal Revenue Service that failed to disclose a civil lawsuit from which Bowman stood a substantial likelihood of benefitting. According to the stipulation of facts filed with the court at the time of his plea, Bowman admitted to submitting Offers in Compromise that failed to disclose a lawsuit that he ultimately settled for the sum of $100,000.
