ROMMIE STONE SENTENCED FOR VIOLATING ADAM WALSH ACT

Former resident of Hamblen and Grainger counties receives 27-month sentence

[GREENEVILLE, TN] Rommie Delee Stone, age 64, was sentenced to serve twenty-seven (27) months imprisonment, supervised release for the remainder of his life, completion of sex offender treatment, and a $100 special assessment in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Tennessee by the Honorable Leon Jordan, United States District Judge. The sentence was the result of a guilty plea to a one-count federal grand jury indictment.

Stone, convicted of attempted aggravated sexual battery of a young child in Grainger County, Tennessee in 2001, moved to Orlando, Florida soon after he was released from the Tennessee Department of Corrections. He failed to update his registration with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) and he failed to register with Florida authorities. At the time of his arrest, Stone lived in a boardinghouse near two elementary schools.

The United States Marshal Service and the Hamblen County Sheriff’s Department were involved in the investigation and subsequent indictment, conviction and sentencing of Stone. Assistant U.S. Attorney Helen Smith represented the United States.
