Milan Man Pleaded Guilty in Federal Court
to Charges of Production of Child Pornography

Memphis, TN - BRIAN D. McMACKIN, 27, of  Milan pleaded guilty to one count of production of child pornography on Thursday, February 18, 2010  announced Lawrence J. Laurenzi, United States Attorney for the Western District of Tennessee.

McMackin was indicted in June 2009 for the possession, production, and distribution of child pornography.  According to court documents, McMackin coerced a seven to nine year old female to engage in sexually explicit activity for the purposes of producing visual depictions of the conduct.  McMackin faces 15 years to 30 years in federal prison when he is sentenced on May 19, 2010 before U. S. District Court Judge S. Thomas Anderson.

This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Memphis Crimes Against Children Task Force.  Investigative assistance was provided by the Milan Police Department.  Assistant United States Attorney Dan Newsom handled the case for the government.

The case is being brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative designed to protect children from online exploitation and abuse.  Led by the United States Attorneys Offices, Project Safe Childhood marshals federal,  state and local resources to better locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the Internet, as well as identify and rescue victims.  For more information about Project Safe Childhood, please visit www.projectsafechildhood.gov.
