Former Dobbs Ford Controller Sentenced To 33 Months
For Mail Fraud Scheme

Memphis, Tenn.- Albert Franklin Matthews, a/k/a. Bert Matthews, age 58, of Memphis, Tennessee was
sentenced to 33 months in federal prison by United States District Court Judge S. Thomas Anderson,
announced United States Attorney Edward L. Stanton, III.

Matthews entered a guilty plea on September 29, 2011, to a criminal information charging him with one
count of mail fraud in connection with the theft of approximately $457,000, while he was employed as the
controller at Dobbs Ford.

According to the criminal information, between approximately November 2004 and August 2010,
Matthews fraudulently diverted approximately $457,122.73 from AutoNation, Inc., the parent company
for Dobbs Ford Wolfchase and Dobbs Ford Mt. Moriah, to a money market investment account, and to
pay personal credit card expenses.

In addition to 33 months imprisonment, Matthews was also ordered to pay restitution in the amount of
$457,122.73.

The case was investigated by the Memphis Field Office of the United States Secret Service, and was
prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Carroll L Andre III.
