Henderson Man Sentenced to 15 Years In Federal Prison
 for Being an Armed Career Criminal

Jackson, TN -  Anthony Peter Valente, 45, of Henderson, Tennessee  was sentenced to the U. S. Bureau of Prisons for a period of 180 months by United States District Judge James D. Todd announced David Kustoff, United States Attorney for the Western District of Tennessee.

Valenta pled guilty on January 8, 2008 to being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm.  Due to Valenta’s prior criminal history he was found to be an Armed Career Criminal and subject to an enhanced punishment. According to the indictment in which Valenta was charged, in January 2007,  Valenta was involved in an attempted drug sale during which he was shot by Justin Rashad Forrest.  Forrest, 24, of Jackson, Tennessee,  pled guilty in August 2007 to also being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm. Forrest was found to be an Armed Career Criminal due to his prior criminal history and was sentenced to 264 months in the U. S. Bureau of Prisons on November 20, 2007.

The case was investigated by the Jackson Police Department Violent Crimes Unit and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives.  Assistant United States Attorney Leigh Grinalds handled the case for the government.
