Carjacker Pleads Guilty

Memphis, TN - FRANK LURRY pled guilty on February 25, 2008, to one count of carjacking, in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 2119, and one count of brandishing a firearm during and in relation to a crime of violence, in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 924(c) announced David Kustoff, U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Tennessee. The charges stemmed from a carjacking committed by LURRY on October 10, 2006, against a Memphis City Schools employee at Treadwell High School.

The penalties for the carjacking offense are a maximum fifteen year prison term, a maximum $250,000 fine, and three (3) years of supervised release. The penalty for the firearm offense is a mandatory seven-year term of imprisonment, to be served consecutive to the prison term to be served for carjacking. LURRY will be sentenced on June 2, 2008.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Kevin Ritz, with the Office of the United States Attorney for the Western District of Tennessee. The investigation was conducted by the Safe Streets Task Force.
