Crockett County Man Sentenced to 292 Months
Jackson, Tennessee - Frankie Welch, 38, of Alamo, Tennessee was sentenced in the United States District Court on January 7, 2008 announced David Kustoff, United States Attorney for the Western District of Tennessee . Chief Judge James D. Todd imposed a total sentence of 292 months in prison. Welch was sentenced to 292 months for Possession with Intent to Distribute over 50 Grams of Cocaine Base (crack cocaine).
Welch entered a guilty plea to count one of the indictment on October 1, 2007. The evidence at sentencing showed that Welch had been distributing large amounts of cocaine base (crack cocaine) in the Western District of Tennessee for over three years. Agents with the West Tennessee Judicial Violent Crime and Drug Task Force and the Crockett County Sheriff’s Department obtained a search warrant for Welchs’ residence, where Agents found over 81 grams of cocaine base (crack cocaine) and approximately $9,300 in cash. Welch admitted to law enforcement officers that he had distributed over 39 kilograms of cocaine base (crack cocaine) to 10 customers during the previous three to four years.
The investigation was handled by the West Tennessee Judicial Violent Crime and Drug Task Force and the Crockett County Sheriff’s Department. Assistant United States Attorney Jerry Kitchen handled the case for the Government.
