Programs Overview

The United States Attorney's Office for the Western District of Tennessee participates in multiple programs. They include: the Civil Rights, Community Outreach, LECC, Project Safe Childhood, Project Safe Neighborhood and Victim Witness Assistance Programs.

The Civil Rights Unit, part of a broader civil rights initiative of the U.S. Attorney's Office in West Tennessee, enhances the ability of the U.S. Attorney to enforce federal civil rights laws and ensure that all Americans enjoy the rights and freedoms the Constitution guarantees them.

The Community Outreach Program includes the adopt a school program and Project Safe Childhood Programs as well.

The Law Enforcement Coordinating Committee (LECC) is a program whose mission is to facilitate and promote coordination, communication, and cooperation among federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies in the Western District of Tennessee by providing resources, information, training, and technical assistance to those agencies.

Project Safe Childhood ("PSC") is a national law enforcement initiative announced by the U.S. Department of Justice in 2006.  Through PSC, there has been increased cooperation and communication between local, state, and federal law enforcement as well as non-government organizations working together to combat computer-facilitated sex crimes against children. 

Project Safe Neighborhoods is a joint program between the United States Attorney's Office for the Western District of Tennessee and local law enforcement agencies within the district.

The Victim-Witness Program provides a variety of services to support victims and facilitate the availability of witnesses for trials and hearings. The Victim-Witness Coordinator identifies potential victims of crimes being investigated and prosecuted by the office. Victims receive notice of their right to be informed of the progress of cases and of the availability of referral services such as counseling, financial assistance through the State Compensation Board, and assistance with employers and creditors.
