COLLIN COUNTY MAN GUILTY OF ILLEGAL DISTRIBUTION OF STEROIDS
SHERMAN, TX – United States Attorney John L. Ratcliffe announced today that a Collin County man has pleaded guilty to distributing steroids in the Eastern District of Texas.
DAVID CHRISTOPHER JACOBS, 35, of Collin County, admitted to conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute anabolic steroids. The plea was heard before United States Magistrate Judge Don D. Bush today.
According to information presented in court, Jacobs and others distributed and dispensed anabolic steroids from February 2006 through April of 2007. Jacobs admitted that he was responsible for the distribution of more than 40,000 units of anabolic steroids and several thousand units of human growth hormone.
“The illegal distribution of steroids and human growth hormones poses a serious threat to our communities,” stated United States Attorney Ratcliffe. “We will continue to investigate and prosecute any individuals engaged in the distribution of these illegal and dangerous drugs.”
Jacobs faces up to five years in federal prison and a fine of up to $250,000 at sentencing. A sentencing date has not been set.
This case is being investigated by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and the Drug Enforcement Administration.
