PORT ARTHUR MAN GUILTY OF BANK ROBBERY
BEAUMONT, TX – United States Attorney John L. Ratcliffe announced today that a 27-year-old Port Arthur man has pleaded guilty to bank robbery and federal firearms violations in the Eastern District of Texas.
MARCELLUS-JON ROWRY pleaded guilty to bank robbery and brandishing a firearm in furtherance of that crime today before United States District Judge Thad Heartfield.
According to information presented in court, Rowry was armed with a semi-automatic pistol when he robbed the Chase Bank, located at 2150 Highway 365 in Nederland, Texas, on November 30, 2006.
Rowry faces up to 25 years in federal prison and a fine of up to $250,000.00 at sentencing for the bank robbery conviction. Rowry also faces an additional 7 years in federal prison for the firearms conviction. This sentence must be served consecutive to any other term of imprisonment.
This case is being investigated by the Nederland and Groves Police Departments and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Assistant U.S. Attorney Robert L. Hobbs is prosecuting the case.
