HOUSTON MAN SENTENCED FOR FEDERAL DRUG VIOLATIONS
IN EASTERN DISTRICT OF TEXAS
(TYLER, TX) United States Attorney John L. Ratcliffe announced today that a 28-year-old Houston man has been sentenced to 78 months in federal prison for drug violations in the Eastern District of Texas.
JOSE LUIS SOSA-MENDOZA was found guilty during a bench trial before United States District Judge Leonard E. Davis on June 18, 2007, of possession with intent to distribute marijuana and was sentenced today to 78 months in federal prison by Judge Davis.
According to information presented in court, Sosa-Mendoza was arrested January 18, 2006 for possession with intent to distribute at least 100 kilograms of marijuana. A federal indictment was returned in august 2006 charging Sosa-Mendoza.
This case was investigated by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration and the Rusk County Sheriff's Office and was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Richard L. Moore.
