Ordered to pay over $290K in Restitution

MARSHALL, TX – United States Attorney Rebecca A. Gregory announced today that a 47-year-old Atlanta, Texas woman has been sentenced to 14 months in federal prison for embezzling funds in the Eastern District of Texas.

LISA ARNOLD was sentenced to 14 months in federal prison and ordered to pay $290.834.34 in restitution today by United States District Judge T. John Ward.

According to information presented in court, between September 2006 to July 2007, Arnold was employed as head bank teller with First National Bank in Atlanta, Texas.  During this time, she stole funds from the bank.  Arnold also admitted to placing $94,000 in counterfeit money in the bank's vault to conceal the thefts.  Arnold was found guilty of theft, embezzlement, or misapplication by a bank employee.  She must report to the U.S. Marshals Service in October to begin serving her prison sentence.

This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Denise Simpson.
