GREGG COUNTY MAN SENTENCED FOR DRUG CONSPIRACY

(TYLER, TX) United States Attorney Rebecca A. Gregory announced today that a Gregg County man has been sentenced for drug violations in the Eastern District of Texas.
 
CASEY LEE BRIGGS, JR., 27, of Longview, Texas, who had pleaded guilty on September 27, 2007 to being involved in a conspiracy to possess with the intent to distribute methamphetamine, was sentenced today to 151 months in federal prison today during an appearance before the United States District Judge Leonard E. Davis. 

According to information presented in Court, an ongoing investigation began in January of 2007 into the distribution of methamphetamine in East Texas.  The operation resulted in numerous undercover purchases and seizures of both drugs and $60,825.00 cash.  A federal indictment was returned by the Grand Jury in Tyler on July 10, 2007, charging Briggs with his involvement in the conspiracy.   

            This case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Gregg County CODE Unit.  This case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Richard L. Moore.
