(BEAUMONT, TX)   United States Attorney Rebecca A. Gregory announced today that a 24-year-old Houston man has been sentenced to 21 months in federal prison for drug crimes in the Eastern District of Texas.

ALBERT LEE CLARK pleaded guilty on March 19, 2008 to possession with intent to distribute marijuana and was sentenced today to 21 months in federal prison by United States District Judge Marcia Crone.

According to information presented in court, on February 7, 2007, during a routine traffic stop by a deputy with the Vidor Police Department, Clark was found to be in possession of 2.99 kilograms of cocaine and 582.10 lbs of marijuana under a tarp in the bed of the truck he was driving.  Clark claimed to have been transporting televisions, but a search of the vehicle revealed the drugs.  Clark was indicted by a federal grand jury on February 21, 2007.

This case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Vidor Police Department and prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney John Craft.
