(TYLER, TX) United States Attorney Rebecca A. Gregory announced today that a 29-year-old Upshur County man has pleaded guilty to federal drug violations in the Eastern District of Texas.

            DAVID SHAWN GROSS, of Gilmer, Texas, admitted to possessing with the intent to distribute methamphetamine today before United States Magistrate Judge Judith K. Guthrie.
According to information presented in Court, Gross was selling methamphetamine from his home in the Gilmer area.  A one-count federal indictment was returned by the Grand Jury in Tyler on April 1, 2008.   

At sentencing, Gross faces up to 40 years in federal prison and a fine of up to $2 million.  He has also agreed to forfeit several firearms.  A sentencing date has not been set for Gross at this time.

            This case is being investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the Gregg County CODE Unit, the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Drug Enforcement Administration.  This case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Richard L. Moore.
