ILLEGAL ALIEN PLEADS GUILTY TO
REENTRY INTO THE UNITED STATES AFTER BEING PREVIOUSLY DEPORTED
(Beaumont, TX) United States Attorney Becky Gregory announced today that a 41 year old illegal alien has pleaded guilty to reentry into the United States in the Eastern District of Texas, after he had previously been deported.
JUAN GUEVARA-RODRIGUEZ admitted to reentering the United States after he was previously ordered deported, during an appearance before United States Magistrate Judge Earl S. Hines.
According to information presented in Court, GUEVARA-RODRIGUEZ was working at a business in Jefferson County when agents with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) received information that Guevara-Rodriguez was possibly in the country illegally. Investigators were able to ascertain that Guevara-Rodriguez, a citizen and national of Mexico, had previously been deported from the United States on April 19, 2005. Guevara-Rodriguez was deported after being convicted of Possession of a Firearm by an Illegal Alien in Louisiana in 1994.
At sentencing, Guevara-Rodriguez faces up to twenty years in federal prison and a fine not to exceed $250,000.00, or both, and a term of supervised release of not more than five years. A sentencing date has not been set for Guevara-Rodriguez at this time.
This case was investigated by Immigration and Customs Enforcement, and is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Randall Fluke.
