GREGG COUNTY RESIDENT PLEADS GUILTY TO DRUG CRIMES
TYLER, TX – United States Attorney Rebecca A. Gregory announced today that a Gregg County man has pleaded guilty to drug violations in the Eastern District of Texas during an appearance before United States Magistrate Judge Judith K. Guthrie.
DERIC ANTWAN JACKSON, age 29, from Longview, Texas, admitted to possession with the intent to distribute and distribution of cocaine base, also known as crack cocaine.
According to information presented in court, an investigation began in December of 2006 into the distribution of crack cocaine in East Texas by Jackson and two co-defendants, all of Longview, Texas. A one-count federal indictment was returned on November 6, 2007, charging the three men with federal charges.
At sentencing, Jackson faces a sentence of up to 40 years imprisonment and a fine up to $2 million. A sentencing date has not been set at this time.
This case is being investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the Longview Police Department and the Gregg County Sheriff’s Office. This case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Richard L. Moore.
