FEDERAL CORRECTIONAL INSTITUTION RESIDENT PLEADS GUILTY TO POSSESSION OF CONTRABAND IN PRISON
(TEXARKANA, TX) – United States Attorney Rebecca A. Gregory announced today that a federal inmate has pleaded guilty to possessing contraband while incarcerated in prison in the Eastern District of Texas during an appearance before United States Judge David Folsom.
KEANE LAMAR LEWIS, 35, admitted to having possessed marijuana while incarcerated at the Federal Correctional Institution in Texarkana, Texas.
According to information presented in court, Lewis was caught with several balloons containing marijuana. Lewis had ingested some of the balloons in an attempt to conceal them from prison authorities. Eventually all the balloons were retrieved, and were all found to contain marijuana.
At sentencing, Lewis faces a sentence of not more than five years imprisonment and a fine up to $250,000.00. A sentencing date has not been set at this time.
This case is being investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. This case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Denise Simpson.
