(TYLER, TX)             United States Attorney John L. Ratcliffe announced today that a 32-year-old Lufkin man has been sentenced to 108 months in federal prison for child pornography violations in the Eastern District of Texas.

            MICHAEL HUDSON pleaded guilty to possessing material involving the sexual exploitation of a minor on November 29, 2007.  He was sentenced today by United States District Judge Michael Schneider.

            According to information presented in court, a federal search warrant was executed at Hudson's residence in Lufkin on March 29, 2007, during which, more than 75 digital images and more than 40 video clips depicting the sexual exploitation of minors, including minors who had not attained the age of 12 years, were discovered.

            This case is part of Project Safe Childhood (PSC).  In February 2006, the Department of Justice created Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative designed to protect children from online exploitation and abuse.  Lead by the United States Attorneys Offices, Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state and local resources to better locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the Internet, as well as identify and rescue victims.  For information about Project Safe Childhood, visit .

            This case was investigated by the Longview Police Department's Cyber Crimes Unit, the United States Secret Service, and the Lufkin Police Department and prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorneys Mary Ann Cozby and Gregg Marchesasault.
