JACKSONVILLE, TEXAS MAN SENTENCED FOR
POSSESSION OF CHILD PORNOGRAPHY

(TYLER, TX) –  United States Attorney Rebecca A. Gregory announced today that HAROLD EARL SCALLON, a 60 year old Jacksonville, Texas man, was sentenced to 78 months in federal prison by United States District Judge Michael H. Schneider.  In addition to the period of confinement, Scallon was also ordered to complete a five year term of supervised release. SCALLON pleaded guilty on April 8, 2008 to possession of material involving the sexual exploitation of minors.

According to the evidence presented in court, on July 6, 2007, at his residence in Jacksonville, SCALLON possessed a personal computer that contained visual depictions involving minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct.  That same date, the computer was seized by law enforcement officers pursuant to a federal search warrant.  A forensic analysis of the computer revealed visual depictions involving minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct.  During the plea hearing, SCALLON admitted to trading and possessing more than 150 images of child pornography.

This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, U. S. Secret Service, and the Longview Police Department.  It was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Bill Baldwin.
