PORT ARTHUR MAN SENTENCED TO 40 YEARS FOR FATAL CARJACKING
BEAUMONT, TX – United States Attorney John L. Ratcliffe announced today that a 35-year-old Port Arthur man has been sentenced to 40 years in federal prison for a fatal carjacking in the Eastern District of Texas.
ALEXIS BERNARD TERRY pleaded guilty on August 31, 2007 to a carjacking in Port Arthur which resulted in a man's death. The sentencing hearing was held today before United States District Judge Marcia Crone.
According to information presented in court, on November 27, 2006 Terry approached Paul Reasoner, driving a 2003 Chevrolet Corvette, at an intersection in Port Arthur. Terry ordered Reasoner out of the Corvette then shot him behind the left shoulder when he failed to comply. Terry then removed Reasoner from the vehicle and left him in the road while driving off in Reasoner's Corvette. Reasoner died as a result of this gunshot wound.
This case was investigated by the Port Arthur Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Michelle S. Englade and Robert L. Hobbs prosecuted the case.
