PITTSBURG, TX MAN GETS 21 YEARS FOR FEDERAL DRUG VIOLATIONS
MARSHALL, TX – U.S. Attorney John M. Bales announced today that a 44-year-old Pittsburg, Texas man has been sentenced to federal prison for drug violations in the Eastern District of Texas.
BILLY JOE BUTLER pleaded guilty on Jan. 14, 2009 to conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute cocaine and was sentenced to 262 months in federal prison today by U.S. District Judge T. John Ward.
According to information presented in court, Butler admitted that up until Apr. 16, 2008, he conspired with others in the Camp County area to distribute at least 5 kilograms of cocaine. Butler was indicted by a federal grand jury on June 3, 2008 and charged with federal drug crimes.
This case was investigated by the Texas Department of Public Safety and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Denise O. Simpson.
