DALLAS MAN SENTENCED FOR FEDERAL DRUG VIOLATIONS
MARSHALL, TX – U.S. Attorney John M. Bales announced today that a 36-year-old Dallas man has been sentenced to federal prison for drug violations in the Eastern District of Texas.
TABORIS LAMON PORTER pleaded guilty on Jan. 27, 2009, to conspiracy to possess with the intent to distribute 5 kilograms of cocaine and being a felon in possession of a firearm and was sentenced to 144 months in federal prison today by U.S. District Judge T. John Ward.
According to information presented in court, through March 28, 2008, Porter conspired with others to distribute more than 5 kilograms of cocaine in the Camp County, Texas area. Porter was indicted by a federal grand jury on June 3, 2008 and charged with federal drug and gun crimes.
This case was investigated by the Texas Department of Public Safety and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Denise O. Simpson.
