HENDERSON MAN SENTENCED FOR EAST TEXAS DRUG VIOLATIONS
TYLER, TX -- U.S. Attorney Rebecca Gregory announced today that a 32-year-old Henderson man has been sentenced to federal prison for drug violations in the Eastern District of Texas.
JOHNATHAN SALAZAR pleaded guilty on Dec. 3, 2008, to possession with the intent to distribute cocaine and was sentenced today to 37 months in federal prison by U.S. District Judge John D. Love. Salazar also agreed to the forfeiture of $25,000.00.
According to information presented in court, Salazar admitted to receiving 1 kilogram of cocaine from Ignacio Farias on Aug. 3, 2007. Salazar and Farias were indicted by a federal grand jury on June 3, 2008. Farias pleaded guilty and was sentenced on Jan 26, 2009, to 73 months in federal prison.
This case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Bill Baldwin.
