TYLER, TX – U.S. Attorney John M. Bales announced today that a 38-year-old Texarkana, Texas man has been sentenced to federal prison for possession of cocaine in the Eastern District of Texas.  

OSCAR RANDOLPH STEWART pleaded guilty on May 18, 2009, to possession with intent to distribute cocaine and was sentenced today to 33 months in federal prison by U.S. District Judge David Folsom. 

            According to information presented in court, on Dec. 6, 2004, Stewart was found to be in possession of between 20 and 35 kilograms of cocaine in Bowie, Texas.  He was indicted by a federal grand jury on Feb. 5, 2008, and charged with federal drug trafficking crimes.

            This case was investigated by the Texas Department of Public Safety and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Denise O. Simpson.
