BEAUMONT MAN SENTENCED FOR FEDERAL DRUG VIOLATIONS
BEAUMONT, TX - U.S. Attorney John M. Bales announced today that a 39-year-old Beaumont, Texas man has been sentenced to federal prison for drug trafficking violations in the Eastern District of Texas.
WILLIAM DANNY PRUDHOMME pleaded guilty on Aug. 19, 2009, to possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine and was sentenced to 87 months in federal prison today by U.S. District Judge Thad Heartfield.
According to information presented in court, on June 23, 2009, law enforcement officers attempted to stop Prudhomme for a traffic violation when he attempted to evade officers, traveling at a high rate of speed before crashing the vehicle into a police vehicle. A search of the vehicle revealed Prudhomme to be in possession of 43.61 grams of crack cocaine. A federal grand jury returned an indictment on July 16, 2009, charging Prudhomme with federal drug trafficking violations.
This case was investigated by the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Antonetta Stancu.
