TYLER, TX – U.S. Attorney John M. Bales announced today that a 32-year-old Henderson, Texas man has been sentenced to federal prison for possession of crack cocaine in the Eastern District of Texas.  

DERRICK RICHARDSON pleaded guilty on Apr. 1, 2009, to possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine and was sentenced today to 163 months in federal prison by U.S. District Judge Leonard E. Davis. 

Richardson also agreed to the forfeiture of a gun, ammunition and a forfeiture judgment of $10,000.   

            According to information presented in court, on Sep. 4, 2007, Richardson possessed crack cocaine with the intent to distribute it to others in and around the Henderson, Texas area.  He was indicted by a federal grand jury on Feb. 4, 2009, and charged with federal drug trafficking crimes.

            This case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Bill Baldwin.
