PALESTINE, TEXAS MAN GUILTY OF FEDERAL DRUG CHARGES
TYLER, TX – U.S. Attorney John M. Bales announced today that a 29-year-old Palestine, Texas man has pleaded guilty to federal drug trafficking violations in the Eastern District of Texas.
JUSTIN SMITH pleaded guilty to conspiracy to possess with the intent to distribute crack cocaine today before U.S. Magistrate Judge John D. Love.
According to information presented in court, up until Jan. 29, 2009, Smith conspired with others to distribute more than 50 grams of crack cocaine in East Texas. An indictment was returned by a federal grand jury on May 6, 2009, charging Smith with federal drug trafficking crimes.
Smith faces up to Life in federal prison at sentencing. A sentencing date has not been set.
This case is being investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Bill Baldwin.
