PLANO MAN GUILTY OF CRIMINAL TAX EVASION
PLANO, TX – U.S. Attorney John M. Bales announced today that a 52-year-old Plano, Texas man has pleaded guilty to criminal tax evasion in the Eastern District of Texas.
ROBERT EDWARD MAURO pleaded guilty to willfully evading the payment of federal income tax today before U.S. Magistrate Judge Don D. Bush.
According to information presented in court, Mauro admitted he willfully failed to file a tax return for the 1998 tax year and that he attempted to evade the payment of income taxes for tax years 2000 through 2002.
Mauro faces up to 5 years in federal prison at sentencing. A sentencing date has not been set.
This case is being investigated by the U.S. Internal Revenue Service's Criminal Investigations Division and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Terri L. Hagan.
