MARSHALL, TX --   U.S. Attorney John M. Bales announced today that a 30-year-old Leesburg, Texas man has pleaded guilty to federal drug trafficking violations in the Eastern District of Texas. 

            MARTIN MIRANDA BARRERA pleaded guilty to possessing with intent to distribute methamphetamine today before U.S. Magistrate Judge Charles Everingham, IV.

            According to information presented in court, on Feb. 8, 2006, Barrera was in possession of 54.69 grams of methamphetamine in Camp County, Texas.  An indictment was returned by a federal grand jury on May 6, 2009, charging Barrera was federal drug trafficking violations.

            Barrera faces up to 40 years in federal prison at sentencing.  A sentencing date has not been set.

            This case is being investigated by the Texas Department of Public Safety and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Denise O. Simpson.
