LEESBURG, TX MAN SENTENCED FOR DEALING METHAMPHETAMINE
MARSHALL, TX – U.S. Attorney John M. Bales announced today that a 30-year-old Leesburg, Texas man has been sentenced to federal prison for drug trafficking violations in the Eastern District of Texas.
MARTIN MIRANDA BARRERA pleaded guilty on July 8, 2009, to possessing with intent to distribute methamphetamine and was sentenced to 37 months in federal prison on Dec. 14th by U.S. District Judge T. John Ward.
According to information presented in court, on Feb. 8, 2006, Barrera was in possession of 54.69 grams of methamphetamine in Camp County, Texas, with intentions to distribute it to others in the area. An indictment was returned by a federal grand jury on May 6, 2009, charging Barrera was federal drug trafficking violations.
This case was investigated by the Texas Department of Public Safety and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Denise O. Simpson.
