WINNIE, TEXAS MAN SENTENCED FOR FEDERAL DRUG VIOLATIONS
BEAUMONT, TX – U.S. Attorney John M. Bales announced today that a 31-year-old Winnie, Texas man has been sentenced to federal prison for drug trafficking violations in the Eastern District of Texas.
HARRELL EUGENE SONNIER pleaded guilty on July 22, 2009, to possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and was sentenced to 84 months in federal prison today by U.S. District Judge Marcia Crone.
According to information presented in court, in Feb. 2009, Sonnier was found to be in possession of methamphetamine at a hotel on IH-10 in Beaumont. A federal grand jury returned an indictment on May 6, 2009, charging Sonnier with federal drug trafficking violations.
This case was investigated by the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Antonetta Stancu.
