GREGG COUNTY MAN GETS 5 YEARS FOR CHILD PORNOGRAPHY
TYLER, TX – U.S. Attorney John M. Bales announced today that a 32-year-old Longview man has been sentenced for federal child pornography violations in the Eastern District of Texas.
JAMES CALEB BRUCE pleaded guilty on Apr. 6, 2009, to an Information charging him with possession of child pornography and was sentenced to 60 months in federal prison today by U.S. District Judge Leonard E. Davis. Bruce was also ordered to pay $3,000 in restitution.
According to information presented in court, on Aug. 13, 2008, law enforcement agents executed a federal search warrant at Bruce's residence on Thomas Street in Longview. His personal computer and other electronics equipment were seized. Over 600 images of child pornography were found to be in Bruce's possession.
This case was prosecuted as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice. Led by United States Attorneys’ Offices and the Criminal Division's Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section (CEOS), Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state and local resources to better locate, apprehend and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the Internet, as well as to identify and rescue victims.
