            TYLER, TX – U.S. Attorney Rebecca A. Gregory announced today that a 24-year-old Palestine, Texas man has pleaded guilty to federal firearms violations in the Eastern District of Texas. 

            MICHAEL SHANE TALLEY pleaded guilty to being a Felon in Possession of a Firearm today before U.S. Magistrate Judge John D. Love. 

            According to information presented in court, on July 27, 2008, Talley was found to be in possession of a firearm.  Talley was previously convicted of manufacture/delivery of a controlled substance in Anderson County in 2006 and therefore prohibited by federal law from owning or possessing firearms or ammunition.  Talley was indicted by a federal grand jury on Jan. 6, 2009.

            Talley faces up to 10 years in federal prison at sentencing.  A sentencing date has not been set.

            This case is being investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives and the Drug Enforcement Administration and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Richard L. Moore.
