ORANGE, TEXAS MAN SENTENCED FOR FEDERAL GUN VIOLATION
BEAUMONT, TX – U.S. Attorney Rebecca A. Gregory announced today that a 24-year-old Orange, Texas man has been sentenced for federal gun violations in the Eastern District of Texas.
HANK THOMPSON pleaded guilty on Oct. 23, 2008, to theft of a firearm from a federally licensed firearms dealer and was sentenced today to 46 months in federal prison by U.S. District Judge Thad Heartfield.
According to information presented in court, on Nov. 12, 2007, Thompson entered the K & C Pawn shop, a federally licensed firearms dealership, in Orange, Texas, and inquired about a handgun. When the store manger handed Thompson the firearm, Thompson took the gun and ran from the store. Thompson was found by Orange Police hiding under a house in the general area. On Oct. 23, 2008, the grand jury returned an indictment charging Thompson with federal gun violations.
This case was investigated by the Orange Police Department, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives and the Beaumont Police Department's Forensic Unit and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Randall L. Fluke.
