VAN ZANDT COUNTY MAN GUILTY OF BANK ROBBERY
TYLER, Texas – U.S. Attorney John M. Bales announced today that a 33-year-old Fruitvale, Texas man has pleaded guilty to bank robbery in the Eastern District of Texas.
CARL RAY DAVIS pleaded guilty to federal bank robbery charges today before U.S. Magistrate Judge John D. Love.
According to information presented in court, on Nov. 2, 2009, Davis entered the Mineola Community Bank, S.S.B., in Grand Saline, Texas and ordered a teller to give him the cash from the teller drawer, which he then took from the bank. On Nov. 4, 2009, a federal grand jury returned a federal indictment charging Davis with bank robbery.
Davis faces up to 25 years in federal prison at sentencing. A sentencing date has not been set.
This case is being investigated by the FBI, the Van Zandt County Sheriff's Office, the Grand Saline Police Department, the Van Zandt Police Department and the Texas Department of Public Safety. This case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Richard L. Moore.
