GREGG COUNTY MAN SENTENCED FOR FEDERAL DRUG CRIMES
TYLER, Texas - U.S. Attorney John M. Bales announced today that a 23-year-old Longview, Texas man has been sentenced to federal prison for drug trafficking violations in the Eastern District of Texas.
ALTON DEAN JESTERS pleaded guilty on Sep. 22, 2009, to conspiracy to possess with the intent to distribute methamphetamine and was sentenced to 60 months in federal prison on Mar. 23, 2010 by U.S. District Judge Leonard E. Davis. Jesters also agreed to submit to the forfeiture of $10,000.
According to information presented in court, Jesters was involved in a drug distribution ring responsible for distributing methamphetamine to other individuals in the Longview area from April 2008 to April 2009. An indictment was returned by a federal grand jury on May 6, 2009, charging 9 individuals, including Jesters, with federal drug trafficking crimes.
This case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, the Texas Department of Public Safety, the Smith County Sheriff's Office, the Van Zandt County Sheriff's Office, the Canton Police Department, and the Dallas Police Department Gang Unit. This case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Richard L. Moore.
