PITTSBURG, TEXAS MAN GUILTY OF FEDERAL DRUG TRAFFICKING
MARSHALL, Texas – U.S. Attorney John M. Bales announced today that a 27-year-old Pittsburg, Texas man has pleaded guilty to federal drug violations in the Eastern District of Texas.
RICARDO ORNELAS pleaded guilty to possession with the intent to distribute methamphetamine today before U.S. Magistrate Judge Charles Everingham.
According to information presented in court, on July 25, 2007, Ornelas was found to be in possession of approximately 53 grams of methamphetamine in Camp County, Texas. He was indicted by a federal grand jury on Jan. 6, 2009, and charged with federal drug trafficking crimes.
Ornelas faces up to 40 years in federal prison at sentencing. A sentencing date has not been set.
This case is being investigated by the Texas Department of Public Safety and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Denise O. Simpson.
