ANDERSON COUNTY MAN GUILTY OF FEDERAL DRUG TRAFFICKING

            TYLER, TX – U.S. Attorney John M. Bales announced today that a 36-year-old Palestine, Texas man is the latest to plead guilty in a methamphetamine trafficking ring in the Eastern District of Texas.

TRACY GLEN STANALAND pleaded guilty to possessing with the intent to distribute methamphetamine on Feb. 9, 2010, before U.S. Magistrate Judge John D. Love.

            According to information presented in court, Stanaland admitted to possessing methamphetamine with the intent to distribute it to others in the East Texas area.  A federal grand jury returned an indictment on Aug. 5, 2009, charging Stanaland and 8 others with federal drug violations.

            Bryan Heath Cannon, Amanda Beth Cooper and Robert David Mobley, Jr. pleaded guilty to federal drug charges in September 2009 and are awaiting sentencing.  Robert Kenneth Chapman and Melissa Ann Holley pleaded guilty on Jan. 7, 2010 and are also awaiting sentencing.  The remaining three defendants are set for trial in March 2010.

            Stanaland faces up to Life in federal prison at sentencing.  A sentencing date has not been set.

            This case is being investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office, the Anderson County Sheriff's Office, and the Palestine Police Department.  This case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Richard L. Moore.
