PANOLA COUNTY WOMAN SENTENCED FOR ILLEGAL COLD PILLS
TYLER, Texas – A 52-year-old Gary, Texas woman has been sentenced to federal prison for drug trafficking violations in the Eastern District of Texas announced U.S. Attorney John M. Bales today.
Mary Kelly Maxwell pleaded guilty on Oct. 1, 2010 to possession of pseudoephedrine with intent to manufacture methamphetamine and was sentenced to 57 months in federal prison today by U.S. District Judge Leonard E. Davis.
According to information presented in court, Maxwell traveled to multiple pharmacies in the Eastern District of Texas to purchase cold pills containing pseudoephedrine, all in furtherance of her methamphetamine manufacturing activities. Maxwell was indicted by a federal grand jury on May 5, 2010 and charged with federal drug trafficking crimes.
This case was investigated by the Texas Department of Public Safety, Criminal Investigations Division and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Frank Coan.
