Hidalgo County Woman Sentenced for Drug Trafficking in Eastern District of Texas
TYLER, Texas – A 39-year-old San Juan, Texas woman has been sentenced to federal prison for drug trafficking violations in the Eastern District of Texas, announced U.S. Attorney John M. Bales today.
Annette Alvarez pleaded guilty on Apr. 3, 2012, to possession with intent to distribute cocaine and was sentenced to 135 months in federal prison today by U.S. District Judge Leonard E. Davis.
According to information presented in court, on Jan. 8, 2012, Alvarez was in possession of approximately 13 kilograms of cocaine which she intended to deliver to another person for distribution. Alvarez was indicted by a federal grand jury on Feb. 1, 2012.
This case was investigated by the DEA and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Bill Baldwin.
