Gregg County Man Guilty of Methamphetamine Violations

      TYLER, Texas – A 46-year-old Longview, Texas man has pleaded guilty to federal drug trafficking violations in the Eastern District of Texas, announced U.S. Attorney John M. Bales today.

James Alton Russ pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine today before U.S. Magistrate Judge John D. Love. 

                According to information presented in court, from an unknown date through February 2012, Russ was in possession of up to 200 grams of methamphetamine.  A federal grand jury returned an indictment on Nov. 7, 2012, charging Russ with drug trafficking violations.

                Russ faces up to 20 years in federal prison at sentencing.  A sentencing date has not been set. 

                This case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Bureau of Alcohol, tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, the White Oak Police Department and the Gregg County Sheriff’s Office.  This case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Bill Baldwin.
