MALVERN, ARKANSAS MAN SENTENCED TO 42 MONTHS FOR BANK ROBBERY
(Texarkana, TX) United States Attorney Becky Gregory announced today that a 29 year old Malvern, Arkansas man has been sentenced to 42 months for robbing a bank in the Eastern District of Texas.
JESSE RICHARD EVANS, who had previously pleaded guilty to bank robbery, was sentenced today during an appearance before the Honorable Judge David Folsom. Evans will also be required to serve a three year period of supervised release after completing his term of imprisonment.
According to information presented in Court, Evans visited several banks in the Texarkana, Texas area, before he was able to garner enough courage to rob the Century Bank on 7th Street in Texarkana. Evans, who was apologetic during the heist, made off with nearly $4000.00 after robbing tellers at gunpoint. An alert customer followed Evans in her car, and was able to advise police of Evan's position as she was following him. Evans was eventually arrested on Interstate 30, going west towards Dallas.
This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Denise Simpson.
