RUSK, TEXAS MAN SENTENCED FOR DRUG OFFENSE
(BEAUMONT, TX) United States Attorney Rebecca A. Gregory announced today that a Rusk, Texas man was sentenced today for charges of possessing with the intent to distribute "crack" cocaine in the Eastern District of Texas.
According to information presented in Court, RICHARD HUDSON, JR., 41, was stopped by a Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper for committing a traffic offense on Highway 59 near Moscow (Polk County), Texas. The Trooper detected the odor of marijuana emanating from the vehicle. Hudson gave the Trooper permission to search the vehicle, resulting in the discovery of sixteen cookies of "crack" cocaine weighing 394.83 grams, cocaine HCL, weighing 84.20 grams, and $1518.28 in cash.
Hudson, who had pleaded guilty to the charges in March of this year, was sentenced to 120 months imprisonment today during an appearance before United States District Judge Marcia Crone.
This case was investigated by the Texas Department of Public Safety, and is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney John Craft.
