NACOGDOCHES MAN GUILTY OF POSSESSING CHILD PORN
TYLER TX – United States Attorney Matthew D. Orwig announced today that a 47-year-old Nacogdoches man has pleaded guilty to child pornography charges in the Eastern District of Texas.
JEFFREY SCOTT RAY admitted to possession of material involving the sexual exploitation of minors before United States Magistrate Judge Judith K. Guthrie earlier today.
According to evidence presented in court, on September 20, 2006, law enforcement officers executed a federal search warrant at Ray’s Nacogdoches residence. Two personal computers were seized and a forensic analysis of the computers revealed that they contained 26 visual depictions involving minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct.
Ray faces up to ten years in federal prison and a $250,000.00 fine at sentencing. A sentencing date has not been set.
This case is being brought as part of Project Safe Childhood. In February 2006, Attorney General Alberto R. Gonzales launched Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative designed to protect children from online exploitation and abuse. Led by the United States Attorneys Offices, Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state and local resources to better locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the Internet, as well as identify and rescue victims.
